Great Buy at a great price with plenty of upgrades available! December 11, 2009 Maritza Moreno (Chicago IL) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this laptop recently for school. Being a single mom I couldn't afford a over priced "name brand" so I had my IT buddy go with me to Micro Center to pick one out based on its specs. He hand picked this computer for me for the price and the specs. It worked super out of the box and has been exceeding my expectations every since. He actually was amazed how well it worked and went and got one for himself. Since then we have gone back to upgrade the RAM on both of ours from 2GB to4GB and upgraded the harddrive from 160GB (which trust me is more than enough for the novice/school/home computer uses) up to 320GB. The upgrades parts are pretty cheap and easy to do, however if you don't know how to do them yourself, ask a computer smart friend to do them for you! This thing is a speed demon and has never given me a problem since purchased!!!

This is the second laptop in this model that I have purchased from Amazon. I purchased the 1st one last year and my partner (who is a computer whiz) liked it so much that I recently purchased another one for him for Christmas. Ruth J
Don't be fooled by the name....this is a great running laptop! January 10, 2010 Raymond Caldwell Jr. (Linden, NJ USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I too got this laptop on Black Friday at Walmart, I managed to get two of them. I've always been a fan of Emachine products, I have a beefy desktop and I have a older E-machine laptop (the M series from 8 years ago and it STILL WORKS!) people by into the hype of "name brands" for laptops and PC's but most use the same parts inside, just the construction on the outside my be on the cheap, my old E-machine laptop was just not cutting it anymore to run stuff that I need and do, don't get me wrong, it still works great, but when I saw the Black Friday deal, I couldn't pass it up, the specs on it are better than some low-end DELL laptops, after getting it and loading up some apps and also upgrading the memory to 4GIG (the 2GIG alone ran good, but I always believe more is better) and this laptop FLYS!!! It handled Windows 7 very well which is surprising and even the video in the unit is definitely above decent, even through it shared memory, but the RAM boost makes it worthy, it handles Office 2007 with no problem, and even playing some games, not all run fairly well..not really a gamers on a laptop, but just wanted to try it to see how much can it handle, it can definitely play WOW.
Even one of my IT buddies that has a Toshiba Satellite Pro was impressed with it and how it handled Windows 7 and how it handled MS Office, so I say to anyone that is looking for a laptop to do school, work, even semi-strenous applications like Adobe platform software, this laptop can definitely deliver.

We got two of these on black friday for two of my boys, High school senior and College freshman. Made by Acer with the alpha numeric keyboard and windows 7. We really like the ease that this machine runs. Upgrade ram and it will run any program quite well.... Bang for the Buck.
